Year 1
Welcome to Year 1!
Hello and a very warm welcome to our Year 1 class page!
We are so excited to begin this wonderful journey of learning, exploring and growing together. Year 1 is a very special time as children take their first steps into Key Stage 1, building on all the fantastic foundations from Reception. This year, we’ll be diving into exciting topics, developing our reading, writing and maths skills and discovering the joy of learning through creativity and curiosity.
On this page, you’ll find regular updates about what we’re learning in class, important dates and helpful resources to support learning at home. We love to celebrate our achievements, big and small and we hope you’ll enjoy seeing all the amazing things we get up to throughout the year.
We can’t wait to share this adventure with you!

Key Information
PE days will be Tuesday and Fridays this half-term. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. Just a reminder, children with long hair should have their hair tied up and should not be wearing jewellery for PE.
. Homework is to be given out every Friday and should be completed by the following Friday.
. We ask that reading is completed 3-5 times a week at home too. Reading records should be signed by an adult to indicate that their child has read at home. Please make a note if your child has finished their book and needs to change it so that we are able to do so.
If you have any queries or questions, please message me via Class Dojo.
