PE Curriculum Lead: Miss Haycock
“A healthy body is the foundation for a powerful mind.”
At St Thomas’, our PE curriculum is designed to inspire every child to move with confidence, challenge themselves physically, and understand the importance of staying active for life. PE is more than sport—it’s teamwork, resilience, respect, determination and joy.
Athletes of the future? Athletes TODAY!
Every child at St Thomas’ is already an athlete. Whether they’re mastering fundamental movement skills in EYFS, learning to work as part of a team in KS1, or competing, strategising, and developing strength and stamina in KS2, our children are continually building healthy habits and lifelong skills.
We want our pupils to feel empowered to:
-
Try new activities and discover what they love
-
Push themselves to improve, little by little
-
Celebrate their own progress and support others
-
Understand how physical activity supports their body and mind
-
Enjoy sport, movement, and outdoor play—every single day
Where does it begin? In our Nursery.
From the moment our youngest children start school, they are encouraged to explore movement—running, jumping, climbing, balancing, dancing, and discovering what their bodies can do. These building blocks grow into confident participation in a wide range of sports as they move through school.
At St Thomas’, we don’t just teach PE.
We grow confident, active, resilient young people who know that being healthy and active is for everyone.
