St Thomas' Pupil Parliament 

At St Thomas' we really value the voice of our children. Over the past few years our children have done wonderful things for our school as part of our School Council, Eco Council, Rights Respecting Ambassadors, Y6 leaders and sports leaders. Our councils did a wonderful job, but we felt something was missing.....the full joined up thinking to make an even bigger impact for our young children....this lead us to creating our very first Pupil Parliament! 

Our very first St Thomas' Pupil Parliament, launched in September 2026. We were really grateful that our local MP, David Williams, came to support us with the launch. He spent time talking to our wonderful community, listening to the voice of the next generation - our children, and taking on board their ideas. We are really looking forward to continuing to work with David and out local MP'S. 

    

Why do we have a St Thomas' Parliament?

At St Thomas', we believe they every pupil has a voice and an important part to play in our school community. Our newly launched (September 2026) Pupil Parliament, gives pupils the opportunity to share their ideas, listen to others and work together to make our school an even better place. Through our Parliament, pupils take on different roles and lead committees that focus on the things that matter to our school community, from sustainability and equality to wellbeing, curriculum and our Christian vision. 

Parliament members will represent their peers, lead projects, solve problems, support school improvements and help make positive changes. It is a chance for pupils to develop confidence, leadership and teamwork while living out our Christian values and making sure that everyone feels heard, valued, included and able to flourish.

As members of St Thomas’ Parliament, you now have an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to our school. Your role is not just about having a title it is about listening, speaking up, working together and taking action. We want you to be brave enough to share your ideas, thoughtful enough to listen to others and determined enough to help turn good ideas into positive change.

Remember, great leaders do not have to have all the answers. Great leaders listen, include others, show kindness, serve their community and help everyone to flourish.

We are excited to see what you will achieve, the ideas you will share and the positive changes you will help to make. This is your Parliament, your voice and your opportunity to make a difference.
