Academy Committee (Governors)
Our Local Academy Committee as part of the Three Spires Trust.
St Thomas’ CE Primary Academy joined the Three Spires Trust on 1 April 2021. For further information on the Three Spires Trust Governance structure, please use the following link: Governance - Three Spires Trust
As part of the Three Spires Trust structure, each individual Academy now has a local Academy Committee - previously known as school governors.
Our Local Academy Committee is made up of a range of members (a staff member, the schools Principal, two parent members, a Three Spires Trust representive, and a range of foundation Governors (some of whom are also parents of children in school). Our Local Academy Committee members have key skills in a range of areas. We also currently have a community member who support the Local Academy Committee.
The purpose of this committee is to provide confident and strong strategic leadership which leads to robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance in line with the Trust oversight and priorities.
All governance boards and Local Academy Committees , no matter what type of school or how many schools they govern, have three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
- Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff
To perform these duties our Local Academy Committee has one formal meeting and one link meeting each term. We have names link members who are responsible for the oversight of key areas of the academy.
