Celebration
Matthew 21:1-11
Have you ever been in a place where someone famous was going to perform, perhaps a concert or a football game? What did you do when the famous person finally arrived? Every year, the Jewish people celebrate Passover to remember the time God protected them from death during the tenth plague on Egypt. After that plague, the Pharaoh of Egypt freed all the Israelites from slavery. One year, as the people came to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast, they heard that their special King was also coming, so they all went out to the road to praise Him.
Forgiveness
Luke 15: 11-32
When you do something wrong, what do you expect will happen? How would you expect to be treated after you have done something wrong? In this story, the father forgives his son and ensured that he remained part of the family. Christian’s believe that the father is like God and forgives us unconditionally!
Thankfulness
Luke 17:11-19
Do you know what a leper is? No, it is not an animal with spots on it. That's a leopard! However, a leper does have spots. A leper is a person who has a disease called leprosy. This disease causes sores all over the body. Leprosy was very common in Jesus' day, and people who had this disease were thought to be unclean. They were required to stay away from other people because of the fear that they might infect them with their disease.
Fairness
Matthew 20:1-16
In today’s world, we sometimes worry a lot about things being fair. We think we earn and deserve things that we get, and we get upset if we think we’ve been cheated or mistreated. In this parable, Jesus reminds us that we don’t always need to be the first, or the hardest working, or the best in society’s eyes. We make mistakes, or maybe we aim to do a lot of things right. Christians believe that God offers forgiveness to all of us. We should try and treat people with respect.
Trust
Mark 4: 35-41
Even though we may never be in an actual storm in a boat like the disciples were, we all will encounter some type of storm, whether that be an injury to our body, a loss of a family member or friend or a hard time at school or work. Christians believe that even in a storm, God is with them. We can also put our trust in other people to help us to calm any storm in our lives.
